Digital Content and Social Media Co-op ABOUT BOSTON WHILE BLACK Boston While Black (BWB) is a fast-growing startup that launched in 2020. BWB is the first membership network for Boston-based Black professionals, entrepreneurs, and students who are seeking connection and community. We are creating a city where Black people want to live and work because they have the spaces, tools, and relationships to find their tribe, grow their network, navigate the city, and have fun. We host programs, events, and a digital community that connect members who are active in their local neighborhoods, working at the most innovative companies, building the businesses of the future, attending the area’s universities, and shaping the culture of the region.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Do you tweet, share, and post to social media in your sleep? Are you the friend who turns all of your experiences into a Reel, behind the scenes video clip, or engaging post? Do you love telling people’s stories, making connections, and know what it takes to grow an online community? Are you unapologetically committed to access, joy, belonging, and community for Black people? BWB is seeking a creative and detail-oriented storyteller to be our Digital Content and Social Media Co-op. The ideal candidate has command of best practices and trends in social media marketing, enjoys telling creative stories, and understands how to build and convert a digital audience. The Co-op will develop and manage our social media accounts and implement strategies that showcase our expertise as community-builders, grow our followers, convert them into customers (members or partners), retain our 1,000+ members, and turns our digital community into active fans and promoters of our company. The person in this role must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment. The BWB team works mostly remote, with multiple in-person meetings and events each month.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Build and manage the company’s social media profiles and presence, including Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, Mighty Networks, and additional channels that may be deemed relevant.
Create shareable content appropriate for each specific platform. Monitor and engage in relevant social discussions about our company, competitors, and/or industry, both from existing leads and customers as well as from brand new audiences.
Run regular social promotions and campaigns and track their success (e.g., Twitter chats, LinkedIn discussions, Mighty Networks features, etc.).
Create and distribute weekly content to our members through our members-only digital platform, including member stories and weekly event promotion.
Drive consistent, relevant traffic and leads from our social network presence.
Attend BWB public and members-only events to capture video, testimonials, and photos to turn into social content.
Track, measure and analyze all initiatives to report on social media ROI.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Active and well-rounded personal presence in social media, with a command of each network and their best practices.
- Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions.
- Proficiency in using social media software (e.g. HubSpot's Social Inbox) to monitor social media conversations. You will be our ear to the ground to route the appropriate marketer, sales rep, and/or support rep to social conversations.
- Bonus experience and skills include graphic design, video editing, Adobe Creative Suite, demand generation, inbound marketing, and blogging.
- Experience working in a fast-paced organization or company
- Experience in using task and project management tools - Excellent communication and time management skills
- High-quality writing skills and attention to detail
- Comfort with creating clarity and direction out of ambiguity - Experience in handling multiple concurrent projects and timelines/deliverables in a fast paced & high-energy environment

- Ability to be flexible and adapt to a changing work environment and schedule, including weekday, evening, and weekend meetings and events
